My objective is to help people discover a way of training which will bring genuine real world added value. This is a supplement to all the other information/activities that are out there. Allowing greater benefits and performance increases beyond what would otherwise be possible.
These are some of the core principles which have been developed over many years of experience, research and experimentation.
Sustainable Training
Training should ideally be for the long term, not just for the summer beach-body. Only then will we have long lasting health/performance benefits. This requires intelligent planning and discipline. Injury prevention is a key component. This is increasingly important with age.
Proprioception…
…is an amazing thing. We all have it sub-consciously. The truly gifted will naturally have it consciously. People like Ayrton Senna, are known for having a “feel” beyond others. With patience and perseverance, your neurological connectivity can be increased to drastically improve the “feel” of all movements. This has enormous transferable benefits from perfecting exercises, self-correction of movements, sports benefits (e.g. ball strike), recovery from injuries. The methods I use are built on a foundation of increasing proprioception.
Range of Motion
When it comes to training muscle groups RoM is a well known and easily understood concept. Except the application is not so easy. Resistance equipment often have shortcomings in the design. Perhaps more importantly, the “body likes to cheat”, which I will address further in the blog.
Percentage of Muscle Fibre Activation…
…is a concept, which only becomes clear to those who are willing to dig deep enough in their training, to see the amazing benefits it brings in changing structure and muscular fitness. This is increasingly important as we age, if we want to retain functionality.
