The links between all the various bodily systems are slowly being better understood by scientific researchers. It is clear that there are knock-on effects that we are probably not even aware of.
The link below is another example uncovered. Examples like this only increase my opinion, that a holistic consideration of health is important.
Scientists uncover early links between cardiovascular risk and brain metabolism
The main points of the article are:
… in middle age, years before any clinical signs appear, atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk factors already show an association with low metabolism in brain regions implicated in the future development of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s disease.
(CNIC-coordinated study, led by Dr. Marta Cortés Canteli, 2021)
The article goes on to say that degenerative neurological and vascular diseases often occur together. Research in recent years has established close links between cognitive decline and a number of cardiovascular risk factors e.g. hypertension, obesity, and high cholesterol.
Final Thoughts
The effects of healthy physical activity can have far reaching and lasting effects on the overall health. We should try to be cognizant and if possible develop a mindfulness of how we feel physically, mentally and emotionally.
Then we will be better able to take corrective action or receive external assistance as required, earlier and with less serious consequences.
If we could all improve our self-awareness and be able to self-heal to an extent, would that not be an amazing thing.
